Product Benefits
  • Secure is ideal for inclusion in IPM programs designed to minimize disease resistance.
  • Excellent partner for products that require the use of a protectant fungicide with a different mode of action.
Mode of Action

Secure® fungicide is one of three contact fungicides currently available in Canada. It is of utmost importance to include contact fungicides in your disease management regimen to help avoid the development of fungicide resistance. Secure fungicide helps to keep fungal populations in check by inhibiting the growth of fungal mycelium on the outside of the plant. It works by disrupting the production of energy at multiple metabolic sites within fungal cells. If the fungus cannot produce energy, it cannot survive, and you avoid disease symptom development on your well-maintained turf.

Mode of Action: Non specific, decoupling of electron transport x phosphorylation reaction

Class of Chemistry

Secure® delivers 8 grams of active ingredient per 100m2, about 12x less than Daconil 2787® at a typical rate. Golf Course Superintendents can achieve reduced environmental loading without compromising efficacy with new chemistry.

FRAC Group: 29

Packaging

Case Size: 2 x 3.78 L jugs

Case Coverage: 4.72 ha (11.7 acres)

Application Information

Use Rates:

16mL / 100m2

Application interval: 14 days

Water Volume:

2.0 - 8.0 L water / 100m2

Application Information:

For best control, use as a component of an integrated disease management program.

Begin applications when conditions are favourable for disease infection and prior to disease symptom expression. Secure Fungicide may not provide control of anthracnose if applied curatively or under high disease pressure. To broaden the disease spectrum, to delay resistance development or to provide control longer than 14 days, tank mix with the labelled rate of Banner MAXX or Heritage MAXX®. Combine in accordance with the appropriate tank mixing sequence.

Apply after mowing.

Allow sprayed area to completely dry before irrigation.

Mixing Order:

Secure® is considered low risk for development of fungicide resistance and therefore, an essential inclusion in your disease management programs. It makes for an excellent tank mix and rotational partner with systemic fungicides like Banner Maxx®, Heritage Maxx® and Velista®. Tank mixing Secure with systemics provides for inside-outside protection with long intervals of control. It also provides great flexibility in your ability to adjust rates for the various tank mix partners.

Use Restrictions:

  • DO NOT apply more than 64 mL product/100 m2/year (6.4 L product/ha/year; 3200 gai/ha/year) on turfgrass.
  • DO NOT apply more than four applications per year.
  • DO NOT apply more than 3 consecutive applications before switching to a non-Group 29 fungicide.
  • Follow all precautions, restrictions and directions on the labels of fungicide products used in an alternation program.
