Xander Schauffele presents Austin Kaiser, his caddie, an Olympic ring
BY LOGAN SCHMIDT
There was controversy surrounding Xander Schauffele's triumphant gold medal win when his caddie, Austin Kaiser, was not able to take home an Olympic gold medal of his own. This week, Schauffele made sure Kaiser got something special to commemorate their Olympic victory.
Kaiser, who has carried the bag for Shauffele's entire career, posted on Instagram that Schauffele had given him a custom-made Olympic ring. This was despite Kaiser not receiving a medal from Japan having been with Schauffele at every stage of his gold medal performance.

The Schauffele family gives the Olympics a special meaning. Xander's father Stefan lost his sight in his left eye in an accident with a drunk driver, in 1986. Xander's grandfather Richard was a German track and fields champion in 1935, before being forced to retire from the sport by a shoulder injury two week before the '36 Olympics.
The Schauffele family now has an Olympic medal. As a family they wanted to make sure Kaiser had something special for his contribution to Xander's victory.
What do you think, should caddie's be awarded a medal for their victory?
